Rings Obsidian

Jackson/Westlake High - Rings Obsidian

Rings Obsidian owner had a serious problem; Jackson looked uncool and lame. So, to solve this problem, he decided to look into some rings, but was shocked to find that anything that looked good was way out of his budget! So, to solve this problem, Jackson did what he normally does and handmade some cool rings! Noticing the opportunity in handmade rings, he capitalized and decided to sell customized rings for the low price of $15-$20 each! Look for Rings Obsidian at the Utah Teen Entrepreneur Christmas Expo at University Mall Friday night and Saturday Evening December 10th.

Lipgloss

Lipgloss/American Fork High

@shopzinniaco  Our next spotlight highlight entrepreneur is a perfect example of don’t just create a product, create a solution. “I learned how to make lip gloss from watching videos online. They were super interesting and I wanted to try it out myself. I always loved lip gloss but hated the stickiness and texture most of them gave. Once I knew how to make my own, I experimented with different formulas until I found a consistency I loved. The glosses I make are oil based and leave your lips more moisturized than ever. Something I’ve never gotten with other lip gloss brands. I love getting feedback from customers saying they love it just as much as I intended them to.” They also create custom gloss for their clients with custom color and scent combinations. This is going to be a perfect fit at the Christmas Expo, everyone gets non-sticky lip gloss in their stocking this year! @shopzinniaco #teenentrepreneur #lipgloss #lipglossaddict #solutionbased #fashionista #makeup

Portia's Pantry is successful business is being run since the 6th grade by a current junior! Orders are placed through their Instagram and cookies are either delivered or shipped. Currently they are shipping a ton of cookies to 13 different states. At our first expo they kept selling out and making more. Anyas Cookies

Anya/American Fork High

Hers' are the decorated ones

Our #cookiewars warriors are actually friends and give each other props (Portia's Pantry & Anyas Cookies).  Maybe they’ll throw down at the Expo (Dec 11th)

Anyas Cookies is a completely different take on "cookie art"

I make custom decorated cookies for events, businesses, and gifts! The first cookies I decorated were 3 years ago at a cookie class. I instantly fell in love and started practicing at home. Neighbors and friends starting ordering and now I have been able to make cookies for large companies and celebrities!

I love the perfect example of different cookie entrepreneurs being so vastly different from each other, it’s the perfect metaphor for entrepreneurship.

Free booth space still available at the expo, and make sure you come to shop this fine business and many many more.  #teenentrepreneur #cookiedecorating #cookie

Mod Clothing

Nora & Sophie/Lehi High

Hello! We are Hello Mod Clothing!! We are 2 sisters ages 16 & 18 who have always been passionate about business. Here’s a little background on us. When we were seven and nine, we started a neighborhood soda and treat stand. We took a $50 loan from our parents and set up shop. At the end of the first day, our net profit was $.96 each. Although this was devastating to us as little kids, we learned a lot about investment, profit, and business. Over the next few years we continued to reinvest and grow that business.

Two years ago we moved out of that neighborhood, which was very supportive of our pop stand, and decided it was time to move on from the “Lemonade Stand” type model, and start something more sophisticated. We had proven to our parents that we were willing to work for something we truly wanted.

Our parents asked us to present a business model and pitch to them for an investment which they approved. We set up bank accounts, received a federal and state tax ID number, got our business licenses, and registered Hello Mod Clothing as an official LLC.

In the past 2 years we started our business, built our website using Shopify, have held lots of shopping nights in our home, grown our social media following to over 1,900 supporters, participated as a vendor in Shop Fest Utah twice as well as other markets around Utah and at our school, grown our inventory by hundreds of items, gone on a business trip to New York City for a major fashion convention, opened a store front at Treehouse Athletic Club in Draper Utah, and even had a segment on Good Things Utah abc Channel 4 this past September!!

Our parents have encouraged us all of our lives to become entrepreneurs and start our own businesses. We have taken their advice in doing this and are preparing for our future by, I Nora, enrolling in different business classes at my high school and planning to go into fashion and business in college. As well as, I Sophie, planning to take more entrepreneur and business classes in my next semester at college. We run this business with little help from our parents. We do everything from ordering product, to merchandising, to marketing, to filling orders, shipping product out and restocking our store front. We truly love this business and try our best to continue growing it everyday! We are also so grateful to all the people who have helped us along the way and given these amazing opportunities!!
